Ah Sa has Good luck running for her in 2009
Sunday, January 04, 2009

Although the Hong Kong entertainment circle is under the impact of Taiwan artistes and Mainland investments that are introducing a number of mainland actors. Does that mean Hong Kong has no artistes? Do not be discouraged because Hong Kong still has Ah Sa (Charlene Choi). Despite the band Twins having no scheduled date to reunite however Ah Sa is still in strong demand, in addition she is a passionate person that is why we predict she will be even more famous in 2009.The past year had been like a rollercoaster from the rise and falls. At the beginning of the year Twins received the "Most Popular Asia Pacific region Female Artist award" and had reached the highest peaks of their careers. But after less than a month the sex scandal occurred and everything went to rock bottom. Ah Sa has never blamed good duo sister Ah Gil (Gillian Chung) and would only worry about Ah Gil's mood. Today Ah Sa is still able to receive awards on stage, continue to have good movie sales and in demand for advertisements. It must have not been easy for her to get to this stage.
Ah Sa smiled and said "The experience I have been through for that year has trained my EQ and AQ to a high level. I feel that I can do an open talk and tell everyone about my personal journey. So that everyone will know how to handle the most frustrated time of their lives."
The route is difficult, but must continue
Ah Sa admitted that when she knew she had to face a severe test in her career and life. She was indeed abit surprised. "At the time I really found it uneasy. Perhaps everyone sees me as optimistic and brave but actually I am really afraid of facing sudden matters. That is why I won't go on rollercoasters in theme parks. I remember I was unhappy at the time, lost and had feelings of heartache. But that feeling was just for a short while. When you feel happy that is also for a short while. Most important is that you can accept and release. Do not choose to escape just because you are unhappy."
It has been over 300 days since Twins has performed on stage as a duo. Ah Sa is still not used to being on stage alone. She said "I can only say to myself, the world will not come to a stop and I must continue."
Ah Sa asked the reporter if they watched the movie "My Name is Fame"? In one of the scenes Tony Leung Ka Fai says to Lau Ching Wan "In this industry (As an artist) when the whole world say's you should stop, you need to keep holding on. Until the day you die you will still have luck running for you." Ah Sa watched this movie during the time she was most lost in her life. It gave her the inspiration to carry on no matter how difficult it was. She would say to herself and Ah Gil "I still have many chances of good luck running for me, as I am not dead."
Ah Gil - Real commitment
In the past 8 years, she would see good companion Ah Gil every day. Even at this period of time being alone and having to continue, Ah Sa has never had thoughts of being dragged down. "Perhaps everyone feels that the creation of Twins and working with Ah Gil is just for work purposes. That's why we are packaged as twins but the feelings I have, I don't think others will be able to feel. (Ah Sa started to get teary at this moment and had to calm down before continuing the interview). "The past 8 years, Ah Gil and myself worked hard together, we had happy and unhappy times. Good and bad are both experiences we went through. So at the start of 2008 and Ah Gil's incident, I felt it happened to me too. The hurt she feels is also what I feel. We face the matters together. I now understand the meaning of a phrase "When you are in the most difficult situation, who can be beside you and deal with the situation together? the person that is most important to you. That's why it's fate, I have never thought about Twins parting because Twins is a not a band that can be destroyed. My hardwork is for Twins."
Ah Sa said in a very firm tone "These 8 years, it has been very hard to get to where I am today. I will not give up easily. I am really very tired."
Twins reunite
(Have you been worried that you won't be as popular as before?) Ah Sa said "There are many changes in the entertainment circle, I have seen many singers enter the industry but disappear. But I am not worried that I won't be popular anymore. It's something an artist must experience but I am most worried that my past hard work will be ignored."
(At this point in time how often do you see Ah Gil?) Ah Sa said frankly "When I have time I will meet up with her. That's why even though we don't perform on the stage together we are still very close. Sometimes we spend a hour with each other but we won't find any specific topic to talk about. We will know what each other is thinking just by a glance." Ah Sa revealed that the company and herself are working on the 1st steps for Ah Gil's comeback. She said "All beginnings are difficult, this step cannot fail. It needs a good timing, therefore we are mentally prepared for it. As for reuniting Twins, it will not be something soon."
(You have grownup from experiencing the incident, what about Ah Gil, how has she changed?) "I am very happy to see that she is cheerful and can release herself from many things. Most important is to see her living happily. She still has a lot of driving force and waiting to grab the moment to be able to see everyone again. Ah Sa laughed "Lets just say that their is still luck running for you until you die."
After talking about her other half companion, Ah Sa's career in 2008 is actually very successful. She had filmed "Butterfly Lovers", "The Storm Warriors II", "歲月情" and guest appeared in "All's Well Ends Well 2009". She also sang 2 songs "Make A Wish" and "Small Dimples" which received music awards. She shot 8 commercials and toured 6 shows in Mainland for the musical "Knight's Star Light". She went to Brunei, Japan and throughout South East Asia to promote the movie "Butterfly Lovers". In 2009 she will be even more busier because after attending all the music award ceremonies she will be going to Taiwan to shoot a idol series "呼叫大明星" (brief translation: Calling Big Moviestars) working with Mike He. Asked Ah Sa about the storyline, she said that the storyline was a secret. "Is the Movie star me? Or is it Mike He ? Of course it won't be resemble me."
Watches Taiwan Drama's to get to know Mike He
"In the past Twins have released albums in Taiwan and have had a good response. I also adapt to the Taiwan's working environment well. This is a very new experience for me. In the past I have only filmed series such as "The Monkey King: Quest for the Sutra " and guest appeared in "Kung Fu Soccer". I really don't have much experience in filming series. As I am still young and not over the age limit of shooting an idol series I will give it a try." Ah Sa who is 26 is still very youthful. Ah Sa had already met up with Mike He earlier. "Before I only watched the series "Meteor Garden" and thought it was very good. When I knew I was working with Mike He, I watched several episodes of "Devil Beside You". I have to get to know my opponent." Ah Sa has had the chance to work with many handsome Taiwan artistes including Wu Zun, Show Luo, Mike He and Jay Chou. She has more opportunites than any other Taiwan female artiste. This time her series dialogue will only be spoken in Mandarin.
Mandarin Dialogue script- No Difficulty
Ah Sa said "Currently most of my opponents speak in Mandarin that is why I need to improve my Mandarin fast. I remember at the start Ah Gil and myself finished our days work and returned to the company to learn Mandarin. Our eyes were forced to stay open to listen to the lessons. But now I know that the hard work is very valuable. I would also like to Thank those reporters who often give us microphones and although our pronunciation isn't great but they teach us." In the past Twins, Ekin Cheng and Louis Koo were known for "Poor Mandarin speaker Artistes". Currently Ah Sa can speak Mandarin in a TV series which proves her hard work has paid off.
In 2009, Ah Sa will also film 2 movies and is already receiving many advertisement offers. She predicts that her schedule is fully booked before July. She personally doesn't have many big plans. "Although I have always liked to make plans for myself. But I discovered that the more I planned the more unexpected things happened. I rather not think too much, if there is a good opportunity I will treat it as a surprise."
"I understand that the world has people who like me, support me. As well as people who don't like me and don't support me. Actually they don't have to deal with because I will continue to perform for those people who like me."
